Prof. dr. Vincent Monnier

A historical perspective of the Maillard reaction 

Dr Monnier is a Professor of Pathology and Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University (OH, USA). He obtained his MD and MSc degree in chemistry from UBasel (1975), did postdoc on advanced glycation with A. Cerami at Rockefeller U (NY) and moved to CWRU in 1982. He was blessed with having had some of today’s most talented Maillard Reaction chemists as trainees who contributed immensely to the success of his laboratory. He is the Founding President of IMARS (2005). His laboratory focuses on the the Maillard reaction in aging lens, collagen and clinical medicine.
